Medical Prayer for my Husband

A call for prayer: We've discovered that my husband has an inguinal hernia. Surgery can be done on a outpatient basis with a one to three week recovery time, but without insurance he'll most likely have to wait until it becomes a medical emergency (strangulated hernia--risk of gangrene in the area and sepsis).  Thank you!

Oh NO praying for him and the insurance situation. DO they have clinics where you live? We did not have insurance for years and used clinics but they are plentiful in southern CA. PRAYING !!!

My husband didn't tell me but he has suspected a hernia for a few months. On Monday and Tuesday the discomfort increased and last night he finally told me about it. He went to the ER because we were afraid a strangulation had begun.

They diagnosed him with the hernia and gave him a number to call to discuss surgery. We discovered we qualify for the care assurance program, which would be 100% hospital coverage for our family size and income.

The surgeon's fees are separate. I don't know if a hospital surgeon has the option to say no to a surgery because of a patient's inability to pay up front. My husband goes to a hospital financial counselor meeting tomorrow.

In the ER doctors have no choice but to treat, but this was not considered an emergency since there was no sign of strangulation of the hernia.

We will see how it works out. I'm sure the ruined credit would not work in our favor.

Mesh, the substance commonly used to repair the hernia at the abdominal wall, has caused chronic pain in some patients. Some mesh was recently recalled. I learned that Canada is the place to go for hernia repair because in a certain hospital in Toronto this is all they do and they use a different method resulting in low pain and recurrence risk. They are world leaders in this surgery, and it isn't more expensive than American, just better. I am praying for this solution (divine intervention) because chronic pain is not something a man who does physical labor needs--or any man for that matter.

Thank you for your prayers!
